trialanderrorgirl:

Consider this: that Hux’s role was not slapstick comedic relief at all, but rather a chilling example of First Order brutality. The top General, known for his own capability and ruthlessness (he does successfully track the resistance fleet through hyperspace mere days after the destruction of his life’s work, after all) is thrown around - literally physically and mentally abused at the whims of Supreme Leader Snoke and Kylo Ren, who are both volatile and cruel figures, albeit in different ways. Hux isn’t the butt of a joke - he’s a terrifying example of the lack of sanctity held for loyalty and life in the First Order regime. Think about it: If Hux isn’t safe, no one is…imagine what they must do to non-ranking, innocent citizens of the worlds they conquer.
